Terra Nova is generally considered to be battleground between fighting nations states jockeying for power in a bid to get whole planet under their influence. However, there are smaller fish in the bond too. Not every mover and shaker in Terra Nova is a general, important politician or a billionaire. At the same time humans are humans with human failings and misgivings and thus get into trouble despite their position. The best connected and influential can call in authorities to do the dirty work but this is not an option to many rich individuals. When they get into trouble, they call in professionals.

Professional groups do not usually advertise and recruitment is usually invitation only. Its existing members usually have an array of contacts, favors to pull and possibly even friends (even if this is rare). They can contact individual or a small group to carry on a small part of their work when it is necessary. Unknown groups are usually not used, as trust is a precarious asset in paranoid existence of professional group.
Anyway, specialized missions are usually quite rare. Thus most of these groups make their bread from working as private investigators, pretty much like any other small investigative company would. However, when the right questions are asked and the price is right, things can turn into far more interesting work and at times, far for than was bargained for...
